Secretary (Department of Transport and Regional Services)
Michael Taylor has been the Secretary, Department of Transport and Regional Services since November 2004.
He has had more than a decade of extensive experience at chief executive level, including as Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry - Australia (2000 - 2004), leadership of three Departments for the State Government of Victoria (Agriculture, Energy & Minerals, and Natural Resource & Environment) (1992 - 2000) and Chief Executive of the Australia Dairy Industry Council (1990 - 1992). He is also a member of an extensive range of boards, including the Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal, the Australian Logistics Council, the Trade Policy Advisory Council, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), the Crawford Fund and the President of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (ACT Branch). He is a fellow of both the Australia Institute of Administration, and the Institute of Public Administration of Australia (Vic).
Mike has been involved in work at State, Commonwealth and an international level across a wide range of management, transport, security, primary industry, water, environmental and sustainable natural resource management issues.
Mike is also Chair of the Commonwealth/State Standing Committee on Transport, and Chair of the Commonwealth/State Standing Committee on Regional Development.
