Chief Executive Officer - Michael Kilgariff

Michael joined Roads Australia in September 2018. He was previously Managing Director of the Australian Logistics Council (ALC), the peak industry body for Australia’s freight logistics industry. Michael has more than 30 years' experience working with industry and government decision-makers to advance policy reform agendas in the construction, energy and freight/logistics sectors.

Executive Director, Policy - Norm McIlfatrick

Norm brings to Roads Australia a strong executive background across energy, transport and infrastructure in both private and government sectors. He was CEO of electricity utility Aurora Energy for five years before spending 10 years as Secretary of two Tasmanian Government agencies, most recently for six years in the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources. Norm is a strong advocate for transport reform, having been a Commissioner of the National Transport Commission and a member of number of national reform boards. As a Tasmanian resident, Norm is a keen cook and traveler with his wife Felicity.

Director, Policy Partnerships - Anna Jabour

Anna has extensive experience working for both State and Federal governments at the ministerial level. She has worked across a broad range of portfolios including roads, transport, energy, infrastructure, planning, trade, local government, health and flood reconstruction. Anna is passionate about engaging industry and government to deliver tangible transport and infrastructure policy outcomes that benefit communities throughout Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Justice from QUT and loves the bush, art and theatre.

Policy Manager - Alex Stott

Alex has a Bachelor of Arts and 1st Class Honours in International Studies from RMIT, and has extensively travelled throughout the Asia region to build a career delivering international policy and regional development activities with the world's best non-government organisations, including the United Nations, Oxfam and UNICEF. Prior to joining Roads Australia, Alex worked at the Grattan Institute as its Events and Marketing Specialist, where she gained invaluable experience in Australian public policy. Alex enjoys cycling and live music, and is involved in coordinating the Environmental Film Festival Australia.

Office Manager - Thao Nguyen 

Thao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Prior to commencing with Roads Australia, Thao worked as an accountant for number of years at Kathmandu, an internationally listed retail company. She was responsible for preparing monthly accounting reports, reconciliation, payables, receivables and payroll for approximately 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Since joining Roads Australia, Thao has further developed her overall office management skills.

Accounts Manager - Veronica Ong

Veronica is a member of CPA Australia and has more than 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior experiences include working in a retail chain as an accountant and PwC as an auditor. Veronica has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting from La Trobe University and holds an ACCA qualification from the UK. Veronica is extremely efficient and detail oriented.  She is also used to producing high quality work, in a time sensitive environment. She is passionate about book-keeping and accounting and is committed to giving 110% to her work every single day.

Member & Stakeholder Relations

Executive Director, Stakeholders - Lauren Streifer

Lauren has extensive experience in senior stakeholder relations, project management and strategy – across Australia, the US and Asia. She was most recently a Project Manager at the Australian APEC Centre – managing public and private sector programs for 21 Asia-Pacific economies in trade and investment, finance, PPPs and agriculture. Previously she worked with the Australian Consulate-General in New York and the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in New Orleans. She holds a Masters of Diplomacy and Trade from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Tulane University in New Orleans. Lauren is interested in entrepreneurship, international development and travel.

Hannah Sauvarin

Hannah is a graduate of the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. Prior to joining Roads Australia, she worked at the Institute of Public Administration in Victoria as a Project Officer with a  focus on events, stakeholder relations, governance administration and the development of the Institute’s Indigenous Initiatives. At RA she assists with events and strengthening relationships with members. Hannah enjoys playing volleyball, cycling and running, but balances this with a secret aspiration to be the next Masterchef.

Membership & Events Coordinator - Marlie Curtis

Marlie specialises in Event Management  and is a passionate client and member services professional. Over the past four years her experiences and achievements have included sitting on the committee of Young Meetings and Events Australia, attending the International Events Forum in Shanghai, winning a scholarship to attend a renowned Conference in Kuala Lumpur, and managing high end events such as the Olivia Newton John Gala Dinner. Marlie has worked in both the not-for-profit (Institute of Public Administration Australia) and  private sectors in event coordinator and executive sales roles. A self-confessed 'people person', Marlie loves the ocean, weekends back to her home town and exploring all the newest restaurants.

Director, Events - Rachael Rooney

Rachael has 25 years of marketing and HR experience across a number of industries.  Rachael has worked for National Rail, CRA, Minenco (CRA/Rio Tinto), AAPA and more recently CSR Emoleum/Emoleum as their Marketing Manager until 2004 and as a Consultant.  Rachael joined Roads Australia to assist with marketing, event management, website management and member services.  She holds a Graduate Diploma of Marketing with Distinction.

Director, Communications - Mark Bowmer

Mark has worked as a journalist and corporate communications practitioner for over 30 years. His journalistic career started on Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper and has included stints in both metro and regional media. As a PR professional he has worked with some of Australia's leading public and private sector organisations, particularly in the building and construction sectors. He also has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and event planning and delivery. Away from work, Mark plays in a band with similarly aged 'mid-life crisers' and is a passionate supporter of the Cronulla Sharks.
