Chief Executive Officer
Michael Kilgariff is the CEO of Roads Australia, an industry association whose 150+ members include all of Australia's road agencies, infrastructure owners, major contractors and consultants, motoring clubs, service providers, and other relevant industry groups. In this and previous industry association roles, Michael has sought to build strong working relationships between industry and government, with the aim of supporting and achieving public policy outcomes that are beneficial to national productivity and efficiency.He brings to Roads Australia a keen understanding of the major economic, social and government policy drivers, combined with a broad understanding of the key issues impacting on the industry. In recognition of his work in this area, Michael won the CEO Magazine Transport and Logistics Executive of the Year category in the 2014 Executive of the Year Awards.Michael holds a degree in Economics from the Australian National University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ diploma and advanced diploma courses. He also completed the Cambridge University Judge Business School Advanced Leadership Programme in November 2017.

Rachael Rooney has 25 years of marketing and HR experience across a number of industries. Rachael has worked for National Rail, CRA, Minenco (CRA/Rio Tinto), AAPA and more recently CSR Emoleum/Emoleum as their Marketing Manager until 2004 and as a Consultant. Rachael joined Roads Australia to assist with marketing, event management, website management and member services. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Marketing with Distinction.

Director - Corporate Affairs
Simon Morgan joined RA as Director - Corporate Affairs in September 2020. He has a broad background in communications, government relations and policy at both the state and federal level, and immediately prior to joining RA was Director of Government & Communications at the Australian Logistics Council in Canberra.

Veronica Ong is a member of CPA Australia and has more than 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior experiences include working in a retail chain as an accountant and PwC as an auditor. Veronica has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting from La Trobe University and holds an ACCA qualification from the UK. Veronica is extremely efficient and detail oriented. She is also used to producing high quality work, in a time sensitive environment. She is passionate about book-keeping and accounting and is committed to giving 110% to her work every single day.

Thao Nguyen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Prior to commencing with Roads Australia, Thao worked as an accountant for number of years at Kathmandu, an internationally listed retail company. She was responsible for preparing monthly accounting reports, reconciliation, payables, receivables and payroll for approximately 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Since joining Roads Australia, Thao has further developed her overall office management skills.

Senior Policy Officer
Jason Romney brings to Roads Australia a strong policy eye that draws on both his past legal background (as a barrister at the Victorian Bar) and senior media roles (at Fairfax, News and MSNBC). Prior to joining Roads Australia, Jason led strategic development of smart cities at Telstra for 5 years, mobilising new technologies and business models whilst helping industry, government, academia and other smart city stakeholders collaborate towards innovative and impactful social outcomes Jason’s experience working at technology companies such as Cisco and Telstra helps him understand how emerging areas such as 5G, IoT, C-ITS, AI, machine learning and data analytics will transform Australia’s transport industry. He holds an Arts (Hons)/Law degree from the University of Melbourne, published the book “Law on the Line”, and was recently a mentor in the Federal Government’s Digital Champions program.

Manager - Membership and Programs
Prue Northey comes to Roads Australia with a very strong background in events. She holds a Diploma of Event Management (Business) and has worked in both the non-for profit and private sectors - most recently, at a large sporting venue. Prue is an involved and passionate member of her Yarra Ranges community, having been a past recipient of Young Citizen of the Year, a current Director on the Board of the Mt Evelyn and Montrose Community (Bendigo) Bank, and a member of numerous local committees. She loves netball, exploring waterfalls, travelling to sunny destinations and brunching.

Coordinator - Events
Alexandra Smith has completed a Bachelor of Business specialising in Event Management. At Roads Australia, Alex plays a key role in pre and post event administration as well as assisting with the annual events program, with the help of her strong understanding of multiple project priorities and deadlines from previous liaison administration experience. On weekends Alex likes to spend her time visiting the latest art exhibitions and galleries in Melbourne or immersing herself in a new book.

Daniel Mellow joined RA in July 2021 and comes to the organisation with experience in customer facing roles in the aviation sector with Virgin Australia. He has recently completed studies in events management and is looking forward to bringing his fresh perspective to RA’s events program. Outside of work, Daniel looks forward to camping trips up to the Murray River where he water skis and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
