Message from the Council
Dear Fellows

Thank you for yet another fun and highly successful year in the RA Fellowship and Young Professional Series.  This year we welcomed another 31 Fellows to take our overall cohort to 140, a number that is increasingly gaining recognition from the RA Board and wider industry as being unquestionably the future of what we are and what we want to be.  And when operating in parallel with over 1500 young professionals of our industry who are engaged and active, you have collectively created a very bright future for Roads Australia and the industry which we represent.

So with the platform of 140 Fellows and over 1500 Young Professionals, we should celebrate the collective success of our events, our projects, our effort and most importantly our impact.  But amongst the direct and indirect cohort there are some individuals that must be highlighted…

A key contributor to this success has been outgoing RA CEO Ian Webb.  Without Ian none of us would have the platform we have now to play a major role in the future of RA and our industry.  On behalf of the Fellowship and Young Professionals I extend our thanks and appreciation of the opportunity, guidance and fun we were offered by Ian.

To our outgoing Fellowship Council, Michael Workman, Simon Berry, Alex Yee and Young Professional Elouise Robinson - thank you for turning the Fellowship into what it is today and for creating the Young Professionals Network.  To our new Council, Kate Borg, Jill Boag, Brendan Hoyle and Natalie Lockwood, we are looking forward to your energy and ideas and can’t wait to tackle the years ahead with you on board.

A huge congratulations to Teresa Tran, the 2018 winner of the Young professionals PPP award, who’s CV at such a young age made us all sit back in our seats and personally had me very grateful I snuck into the Fellowship as early as I did as I have no doubt I wouldn’t get through again if that’s the calibre of future applicants.  I can’t wait for your guidance and leadership on the Fellowship Council!

So please enjoy whatever break you might be having over the coming period and look back proudly on the success you’ve created in 2018, knowing that with the cohort we have, an even greater 2019 is well within sight.

Cheers,

Ross Campbell,
Fellowship Council Chair

Successful last YP Networking event
The final YP event for 2018 saw an incredible turn out at Diesel in Melbourne on Wednesday 5 December. Thanks to Claire Quinlan, Arup and Peter Ryan, WBHO for inspiring our guests with some lessons on how Melbourne's growth, and how changing transport patterns will affect the way in which our future leaders plan and build going forward.
