The Young Professionals Series of networking events for the under-35's has been a huge success since its launch in 2017, tapping into a previously unfulfilled demand for 'industry-wide' networking opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
Our events across Australia have brought together hundreds of young professionals to share ideas and experiences, and to hear from current leaders about the challenges of 'stepping up' to the next level.
Our second Annual Gala Dinner and Award Presentation promises to be an evening of stellar networking for the industry's under-35's, with the keynote to be delivered by one of our most experienced leaders, Clare Gardiner-Barnes.
We will also be awarding our Young Professionals 'PPP' Award (see details below), presented by RMS Chief Executive, Ken Kanofski.
Date: Wednesday 7 November
Time: 6.30pm pre dinner drinks for prompt 7pm seated dinner (expected finish 10pm)
Where: Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, 23-32 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont

Dinner Seat - $200 (inc GST)
Corporate Tables - $1800 (inc GST) (Pay for 9 seats and get 1 free seat)
Book 10 seats and you have the option of a) Having a branded corporate table with 10 seats – an ideal opportunity to invite guests; or b) dispersing your 10 seats across the venue to meet other companies and government agencies beyond the scope of a formal corporate table.

Clare Gardiner-Barnes - Deputy Secretary, Freight, Strategy and Planning, Transport for NSW
Clare was appointed to her current role in August 2015. Prior to this, she was Chief Executive at the Department of Transport in the Northern Territory. She has held senior positions across a number of areas of government, including Chief Executive at the Department of Children and Families in the Northern Territory and in the policy area of the Department of Education and Training in Queensland.
Under Clare’s leadership, the Freight, Strategy and Planning Division plays a critical role in the development of strategy and policy for public transport and roads networks in NSW, working closely with industry to ensure the safe and efficient movement of freight in the State.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS 'PPP' AWARD - Promise, Passion and Pursuit
To support the development of young leaders in our industry, RA is offering the opportunity for one Young Professional to engage in a 12-month industry exposure experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for the recipient to observe and understand how leaders interact and make decisions.
The successful applicant will be involved in the following:
- 3-day Roads Australia shadowing experience including stakeholder meetings and high-level discussions (expenses paid where travel is required)
- Opportunity to attend exclusive Boardroom events with exposure to other CEOs and influential leaders from the public and private sector
- Observer position on our Fellowship council, contributing to the growth and development of the Fellowship and Young Professionals network
- Free industry events for the 12-month period
We will be awarding this prize at our Gala Dinner to a Young Professional who shows Promise,Passion and Pursuit in expanding his or her knowledge and leadership capability.
Nominees are required to submit a two page application outlining:
- Name, title, organisation
- Phone number and email address
- Why you deserve to be selected for this opportunity (please outline any key achievements)
- What you’d like to take out of it (what questions you want answered, what learnings you hope to gain, and how you think you can use it to progress your career)

The 2018 'PPP' Award will be presented by Ken Kanofski, Chief Executive, Roads and Maritime Services.
Ken was appointed chief Executive of Roads and Maritime Services in August 2016. As Chief Executive, Ken is responsible for leading and managing the performance of the road and maritime networks to meet customer needs. This includes delivery of a record infrastructure building program, as well as maintaining, operating and regulating the networks.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive, Ken spent three years as the Roads and Maritime Chief Operating Officer.
Previously, Ken has served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of three statutory corporations, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Government Property NSW and WSN Environmental Solutions. Experienced in a range of infrastructure, utilities and services industries, including Transport, Roads, Housing, Property, Venue Management, Waste, Recycling, Energy, Water and Telecommunications.
BOOKING POLICY AND CONDITIONS
Bookings are to be confirmed and paid in full 48 hours prior to the event. Bookings received 48 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed unless a confirmation has been received by the Events Director. Cancellations should be notified in writing by email. Cancellations received prior to one week before the event will receive a full refund less 25%. No refund will be applicable for cancellations received after one week prior to the event although substitute delegates are welcomed.
Please note: Anyone registering for and/or attending an RA event does so on the condition and understanding that his or her name, company/organisation and title will be provided to other attendees. Registration and/or attendance also implies consent to be photographed at the event, and for those photographs to be used in various media for the purposes of promotion and publicity. Attendees’ names, organisations and/or titles may also be included in accompanying captions.
